AMR Awareness Campaign

The AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance) Awareness campaign week was conducted from 18 November to 24 November 2022 with the aim of increasing social awareness among university students. Throughout the week, students actively participated in various conversations and discussions to gauge their understanding of AMR and to help them gain a better comprehension of its importance.

The campaign aimed to address the growing global concern of antimicrobial resistance, which refers to the ability of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites, to resist the effects of drugs that were previously effective in treating infections. This phenomenon poses a significant threat to public health, as it can lead to the emergence of untreatable infections and complications in medical treatments.

During the campaign week, students engaged in informative sessions that focused on raising awareness about AMR and its implications. The students actively participated in conversations revolving around the causes of AMR, such as the misuse and overuse of antibiotics in human and animal healthcare, as well as the environmental factors that contribute to the spread of drug-resistant microbes.

Through these discussions, students had the opportunity to expand their understanding of the importance of antimicrobial awareness and the role they can play in combating AMR. They were encouraged to adopt responsible practices, such as proper antibiotic use, adherence to prescribed treatment regimens, and infection prevention measures.
